15.4. Selected Achievements. (Optional)

<< Previous or Next >>

The Selected Achievements are like headlines for your resume, and can be used instead of, or with, an Objective Statement, Summary Statement or even the Technical Skills section. Positioned at the top of the resume they’re in the best place to be seen and call attention to your best attributes.

Selected achievements are the same as the achievement statements you use in the work experience section. As the name implies, you’re picking out between 4 or 5 of your most significant achievements. You’re going to need to make sure the achievements you choose relate very closely to the needs of the position. Note they don’t need to be repeated lower down in the Work Experience section.

Since they’re going to be very visible and probably one of the first things the reader focuses on, take your time to get the wording just right, the extra effort will be worth it in the end.
